Violins are operated in "breakup" mode...ie the wood contributes tones of it's own.
Musical instrument speakers are similar...cone breakup produces coloration.
Guitarists find different colorations desirable. Not good for Hi-Fi.
Not news, but you might find the Ovation Adamas interesting...carbon fiber top. Using synthetic material allows controlling resonances at various points...very nice instrument, and surprisingly natural sounding...Owned one back in the day, working in a music store has it's perks.
The fellow who owned Ovation owned an aircraft company, Kaman Aircraft. He employed a lot of technology from that in his guitars

Carbon fiber does make a good cone, because of the ability to control resonances as I said, Higher cost though.

Never played or heard a Ovation that appealed to me, I like the aesthetics, just not the sound.

I am not an Ovation guitar fan either. I pretty much agree about them...they would be way down my list.
Ovations are midrange heavy...which makes them easy to mike up on stage.
The regular Ovation is a decent road guitar, they survive well. I wouldn't take my 40 year old acoustic on a tour, it probably wouldn't make it thru.
